Questions & answers
Why is the answer box empty?
Every box in the chosen mode must be filled. If a box has a red message under it, fix that box and the answer appears straight away.
It says “Enter a valid number”. What can I type?
Digits (in any script), one minus sign at the start and one decimal mark. Thousands separators must come every three digits, like 1,250.5 or 1.250,5. Letters, units and currency signs are not accepted.
Why does it say “This value can't be 0”?
No number can be divided by 0. The total in “What percent?”, the old value in “% change” and the bottom number of a fraction must not be 0.
How do I find the price after a discount?
Open the Discount tab and enter the price and the discount. For a price of 80 with 25% off you pay 60 and save 20.
After a 15% increase the price is 115. What was it before?
Use the Reverse % tab: 115 ÷ 1.15 = 100. Taking 15% off 115 gives 97.75, which is wrong, because the 15% was worked out from the old price, not from 115.
What does a line over a digit mean, like 33.3̅%?
The digits under the line repeat forever: 0.3̅ = 0.333… = 1/3. Nothing is rounded, so the answer is exact.
