Questions & answers
Why does it say there is a mistake in the calculation?
Two signs are next to each other (like 2 + × 3), a number is missing after a sign, or there is a letter the calculator does not know. Fix the part where the signs meet; the answer appears as soon as the calculation is complete.
Why is sin 30 not 0.5?
Check Degrees / Radians under the box. sin 30 in degrees is exactly 1/2 (0.5). In radians, 30 means 30 radians, and sin 30 is −0.988031624092…. Most school questions use degrees.
What does … at the end of an answer mean?
The decimal never ends (like √2 = 1.41421356237…). Only digits that are certain are shown, and … means more digits follow. Nothing is rounded up or down.
Why do I get 2/3 and not 0.666666667?
The calculator keeps answers exact. 2 ÷ 3 is shown as 0.6̅ (the line means the 6 repeats forever) and also as the fraction 2/3. Long repeating decimals are shown as a fraction.
In which order is a calculation worked out?
Brackets first, then powers (right to left, so 2^3^2 = 2^9), then × and ÷ from left to right, then + and −. A number next to a bracket or π is multiplied: 2(3+4) = 14. −2² = −4, but (−2)² = 4.
How do I type a number with a thousands separator?
Don't use thousands separators in a calculation: type 12500, not 12,500. Use the decimal mark of your language (the . key on the keypad gives the right one).
