Questions & answers
Why is the answer empty?
Fill in at least one grade (Average) or every box (Final exam, Test score). Leave unused rows empty; they are skipped.
Do the weights have to add up to 100?
No. Any weights work, because the total is divided by the sum of the weights: 3 credits and 4 credits, or 20 %, 30 % and 50 %, give the right weighted average either way.
It says “Give every grade a weight”. What should I do?
Once you type one weight, every grade needs one. Either fill in all the weights, or clear them all to get a simple average where each grade counts once.
How is the score needed on the final worked out?
Now 80 %, final counts 40 %, you want 85 %: your 80 % is worth 80 × 60 ÷ 100 = 48 points; you need 85 − 48 = 37 more; 37 × 100 ÷ 40 = 92.5 % on the final.
It says more than 100 %. What does that mean?
Even full marks on the final would not lift your grade to the target. Lower the target to see what is still possible, or check that the final's weight is right.
Why is there no letter grade (A, B, C)?
Letter grades and pass marks are different in every country and school, so a letter here could be wrong for you. Compare the exact percent with your school's own scale.
