How it works
The method
Equations are solved exactly, step by step: like terms are collected, both sides get the same operation, and quadratics are factored or use x = (−b ± √(b² − 4ac)) ÷ 2a. Answers stay as fractions and roots unless they come out whole.
Worked example
x² − 5x + 6 = 0 factors as (x − 2)(x − 3) = 0, so x = 2 or x = 3. Check: 4 − 10 + 6 = 0 and 9 − 15 + 6 = 0.
Common mistakes
Dividing both sides by x can lose the answer x = 0. Squaring both sides can add answers that do not work, so check each one in the first equation.
Questions & answers
How do I type powers, roots and fractions?
Use ^ for powers (x^2 or x²), sqrt(…) or √ for square roots, / for fractions and brackets where needed: (x+1)/(x−2). A number next to a letter is multiplied: 2x means 2·x. The maths keys under the box add these for you.
It says there is a mistake in the maths. What do I check?
Look for two signs next to each other (2 + × 3), a bracket without its partner, or a comma used as a decimal mark in a list. In languages that write decimals with a comma, write 2,5 for two and a half and put several equations on separate lines.
Why is the answer written with √ or a fraction instead of a decimal?
Because that is the exact answer. √2 never ends as a decimal, so it is kept as √2 and its certain digits are shown next to it (1.41421356237…). Nothing is rounded.
Can it solve several equations at once?
Yes. Put each equation on its own line (or separate them with ;). Equations where every letter is to the first power are solved exactly, and the steps show the row operations. It tells you when there is no solution or infinitely many.
Does it show the steps for derivatives and integrals?
Yes. Each part is worked out with the rule used (power, product, chain, integration by parts …). Integrals include + C, and a definite integral gives the exact value, like π/4 or ln(2), with its decimal digits.
It says it can't integrate my formula. Why?
Some formulas have no simple integral (like e^(x²)), and some need methods this tool does not use yet. Try writing it as a sum of simpler parts, or check the formula for a typing mistake.
